About Crossing Our Elders
Our Elders

Tim Smith

Tim Smith, Elder and Teaching Pastor

Originally born in West Texas, I migrated to Bucks County in 1985. I joined Crossing and met my future wife, Bette Jo, that same year. I have 15 years experience in the print advertising and advertising agency field. I also served for eight years with World Team, a church planting mission agency, in their home office. Prior to accepting the Teaching Pastor position, I served as an Elder at Crossing for seven years. I did my undergraduate work at Texas Tech University and received my masters in Cross Cultural Communications from Dallas Theological Seminary. Bette Jo and I have two sons and live in Newtown. I enjoy fooling around my yard and am a Dallas Cowboy fan, especially when they are winning. My desire is to see Crossing be a church of "sent" people who are enthusiastic about seeing the greater Newtown area impacted for Christ.

Greg Shipley

Greg Shipley, Elder and Associate Pastor

I was born and raised in southwestern Ohio. My loving parents taught me that God also loves me and sent Jesus so that I could be right with God. As a teen I committed myself to become equipped to serve Him so I ended up with a Doctorate of Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1989. My journey has included serving 6 months abroad in the Caribbean in the 1970s, getting married in 1977, teaching high school in Iowa (1980-1982), and doing mission work from 1989 through 2008 in Britain and Eastern Europe. Cheryl, my wife, and our 3 adult children have been along for much of this often wild ride. Although we have been with Crossing since 1982, my service on the Elder Council and as Associate Pastor only dates from the summer of 2009, after our return from Europe. My desire is to see the people of Crossing grow in God’s grace, and reach out to those who do not know Him.

Baron King

Baron King, Elder

I moved to the Bucks county area from southeast Florida in 1996. Finding Jesus later in life, I decided to leave the business world and pursue God’s calling into the field of Christian counseling. Currently, I am employed as the Director of Health and Counseling Services at Philadelphia Biblical University as well as directing Crossing’s Counseling Ministry. I hold a B.S. in Biblical Studies and a M.S. in Counseling from PBU. My passion is to see people learn to live their lives “worthy of their calling” and to live life boldly for Christ. My wife Michelle and I, along with our three children love being outdoors and enjoy hiking, rock-climbing, and mountain biking.

Scott Brubaker, Elder

I have been married for 25 years to my wife, Karen, who I met on a ferry between Italy and Greece in 1980. We have four children. Three of our kids are at various stages of college and beyond. One has beat us to heaven. I live in Holland and have attended Crossing since 1993.

I graduated from Cook College, Rutgers University in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Forestry, and have worked for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection fighting crime and pollution since 1987. Having become a Christian at age 31, I'm so thankful for God's free gift of heaven and a life with security, purpose, and perspective now. I enjoy outdoor stuff, hiking, camping, hunting and jogging. I'm a physical fitness buff although to look at me you might not notice.
